Obama’s off-the-record Immigration Interview
President Obama stated he is confident of reforming immigration laws next year.
He also said openly that chances of Democratic Party winning a second term is higher, for unlike themselves the Republican Party haven’t been giving much importance to the Latino community, which is the fastest-growing demographic group in the United States.
Although, only time will tell if immigration laws would be reformed next year after all, for President Obama had promised the same in the beginning of his first term in 2008 too.
Mr. Romney has time and again pointed out the same to criticize President Obama.
Upon asked about the statement, Mr. Obama answered bluntly that he had no idea that the Republicans would leave here, who earlier had been keen on staying and supporting the reform.
Thereafter, in December 2010, President Obama tried to pass the Dream Act bill with intense campaign by the White House.
Unfortunately, even after passing the House of Representatives, it failed to gain the necessary 60 votes to get the bill running.
It was in June that President Obama used executive authority to offer reprieves from deportation for hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants.
Hitting back at Obama’s statements, Mr. Romney’s campaign mostly said that his (Mr. Obama) statements are just false promises and no more.
