Important Note About the “Immigration Status at Last Arrival” Field
One common point of confusion on Form G-325R is the field asking for “Immigration Status at Last Arrival.” The form pre-fills EWI (Entry Without Inspection) as an option, but this does not apply to individuals who entered legally with a visa through inspection. If you were admitted with a valid visa, but the form does not provide an option to enter your correct status, simply leave this field blank rather than selecting EWI. USCIS will review your registration based on the other provided details, including your I-94 and supporting documents.
Step 3: Submit the Form
- Review your information carefully to avoid errors.
- Electronically sign and submit the form.
- Receive confirmation from USCIS once your form is successfully submitted.
Step 4: Attend the Biometrics Appointment (If Required)
- If USCIS determines that biometric screening is necessary, an appointment notice will be sent.
- Attend your scheduled Application Support Center (ASC) appointment to provide fingerprints and a photograph.
Step 5: Download and Carry Proof of Registration
- Once the process is complete, USCIS will issue a registration document.
- Log in to your USCIS account and download proof of registration.
- Non-immigrants 18 years or older must carry this proof at all times as required by U.S. law.
Why Is Registration Important?
Failure to register can lead to:
- Fines or legal consequences.
- Difficulties renewing a visa or adjusting status.
- Possible impact on future immigration applications.
This new registration requirement is now a mandatory process. To avoid any legal issues, non-immigrants who are required to register should complete their submission as soon as possible.
